"Be like the Sun
Be like the Sun for grace and mercy
Be like the Sun
Be like the Night when covering, others faults
Be as you are
Be as you appear
Like the Night for Modesty
Like running water for generosity "

about
This is a suite of six interlocking pieces. “Is All Not One? Six Paramitas”
Dana - Generosity, Sila - Joyful Practice, Ksanti - Patience, Virya -Energy, Dhyana-Focus, Prajna -Wisdom and Acceptance.
Written between 2019 – 2022. This is almost 60 mins of rich and emotive music that aims to explores the extremes of human emotions as it explores the six perfections of Buddhism, through the lens of a post pandemic world with tumultuous global tensions and strained relationship with technology.
I believe music and improvisation to be a transcendent art form, and therefore was to me an appropriate way to explore the depths of these ideal perfections.
Also included with this concept album is bonus 10 min track; single “Agneya- Daughter of the Fire God. This was written during the Black Summer bushfires and depicts a day in the life of a forest in SE Australia. In this tone poem intense dry crackling heat moves to raging fire and then soaking rain with thunderstorm.
